If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you may know that I’m a fan of the YA Scavenger Hunts. They’re a fun way to learn about new authors (and for authors to find new readers!)
The YA Scavenger hunt is a bi-annual event, organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors…and a chance to win some awesome prizes!
On this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize–one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 120 hours!
There are FOUR contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the RED TEAM–but there is also a gold team, a blue team, and a purple team for a chance to win a whole different set of books!
If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

HARBOR FOR THE NIGHTINGALE
“An outstanding alternative history series entry and a must-have for teen libraries.” —School Library Journal
London, 1814. Emperor Napoleon has forced Europe to its knees, and now he plots to seize control of Britain. Maya Barrington, one of Miss Stranje’s unusual girls, must act as a double agent and use her extraordinary gift of persuasion to thwart Napoleon’s scheme.
Maya brought the mystery of India with her . . .
Maya comes from two different worlds. Her mother was a Maharaja’s daughter, but her father was an English Lord. After her mother died her father took her away from the warmth of India to cold inhospitable London. She was not welcomed. Especially by her prejudiced stepmother, who sent Maya away to Stranje House, a reform school known for its harsh discipline.
Except the school’s dark reputation hides the truth, that the headmistress, Miss Stranje, is actually training these unusual young ladies to enter the dangerous world of spies, diplomacy, and war. Stranje House is the perfect place for Maya—she finally carves out a sense of belonging among these brilliant outcast girls.
To protect the friends she now holds dear, and to keep Napoleon and his ruthless spies from destroying the world she has grown to love, Maya must enter this treacherous game on the arm of the ellusive Lord Kinsworth. She can read almost everyone—not so with this young rascal. Quick with a jest and armed with lethal charm, Kinsworth remains just beyond her reach. But with Britain’s future at risk and those she loves in deadly peril, can she dare trust him?
EXCLUSIVE CONTENT
Maya hears the world in addition to seeing it. For her, there is music in everything.
At times when she hears Lord Kinsworth’s inner music, and this is the piece that inspired me during many of those scenes.
I love the cello, the sound is so rich and full. Close your eyes and just enjoy this beautiful selection from one of the world’s foremost cellists:
Maya believes there are invisible ties between people who have deep relationships. The words in this song are absolutely magical and reflect many of Maya’s emotions.

no idea. but i can tell you a book i’m looking forward to that got pushed back 2 years and the wait is killing me: Reconnected by Catherine Tinker (or something). Sigh. Literally, I just sighed.
I would say What is Hidden by Lauren Skidmore. This book was a retelling of cinderella in constant masquerade.
The Grace & Fury duology by Tracy Banghart!
I love the Sea of Ink and Gold series. I’m not how underrated it is but it’s not a series I hear talked about a lot.
If I Die by Amy Plum. I don’t hear much about it anymore.
One underrated series might be the Matched series by Ally Condie.
I feel like the Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley is underrated! I adored those books as a kid.
“Tell me your favorite underrated series (any genre).” Hmm, I don’t know–early Evelyn Waugh books and novels by Aldous Huxley that aren’t “Brave New World”? Obviously, those who know know that Evelyn Waugh’s “Decline and Fall” and “A Handful Of Dust” are masterpieces, but, really, everyone should read them!
I am so thankful for this Scavenger Hunt, it has connected me to so many new authors and my reading wish has grown. I cant wait to dive into all these good reads!
The Forever Girl by Rebecca Hamilton

Even though she is an awesome author, Seanan McGuire doesn’t seem to come up in general book conversations too often. She has several series, but her best is definitely the October Daye series, which is a about a Changeling knight/detective.

Tainted Accords Series by Kelly St. Clair.
My favorite underrated series is the Valkyrie series by Amanda Hocking. I really enjoyed this two book series.
My fave underrated series is the And I Darken trilogy. I’m not sure if there is a big fan base for it but I have never seen any. And it’s such a good story.
The Haunted Hearts Legacy series by A. G. Howard. It’s so amazing! Thank you so much for the chance!
A series I love is the Everworld series by K.A. Applegate. This series came out before the Animorphs series and it was one of the 1st young adult series I got into. Most don’t know it because it is out of publication, but I love it!
The Haunted Hearts Legacy series by A. G. Howard! It’s so amazing! Thank you so much for the chance!

My favorite underrated series is the ‘Aerial Ethereal’ Series by Krista & Becca Ritchie. It is a series that could be read as standalones and so far there are only 2 books out, but I hope for many more. The books are just magnificent, especially ‘Amour Amour’.
My all time favorite underrated series (at least at this point in my life) is the ‘Aerial Ethereal’ Series by Krista & Becca Ritchie. The books could be read as standalones and unfortunately so far there are only 2 books out. Amour Amour, the first book in this series is absolutely magnificent…
